About Kentucky Gun Coatings

Meet Rick

When Rick left the Airforce after 12 years of service, he settled in Michigan where he continued his profession as a Medical Lab Technician.  Soon, though, Rick became a co-owner and president of a glass company.  It was there that he met a third-generation gunsmith who proved to be Rick's inspiration.  From there Rick sold his share of the glass company and moved "back home" to the family-owned farm in Grayson County Kentucky in 2007.  He then studied and became a certified gunsmith.  His mentor advised Rick to find a niche market.  That spurred Rick to discover the up-and-coming company for ceramic coatings finish.  That company is CERAKOTE.  Rick attended their factory-owned school and became a certified Cerakote Applicator. He also obtained the coveted Federal Firearms License. Rick opened his shop in a small shed on the family farm in 2009.  He was a pioneer in the industry of ceramic coatings. Now 12 years later, he is still going strong and is known across the country as a fine craftsman an honest businessman and a super nice guy!
